My Story…
In May of this year, I am once again Running for a Reason! This time, a half marathon totaling in 13.1 miles!
My passion for races started last year when I completed my first 5k during marathon weekend and I ran to raise money for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. This year, I am running more miles for a larger donation goal.
I'd like to raise $5,000 for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh-I know, a big goal, right? I truly believe that with the power of my friends, family, businesses and even strangers, we can do it.
As I have mentioned, this cause is SO incredibly close to my heart. I lost a sister to Leukemia when she was just five years old and it truly changed my family forever. So often, families have a challenging time keeping up with everyday expenses and my hope is to raise money for families going through a heartbreaking time- paying families mortgages, utilities, hospital bills, groceries and so much more during a time their focus is on their sick child.
I am so grateful for everyone who was able to donate last year, I know together we can help a family who truly needs it once again.

As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2023 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
