Help Kayleigh raise money

November 28^th, 2019 will be a day that will forever live in my memories.  Not from memories made with family on my daughter’s 2^nd Thanksgiving, but because that day has forever changed our lives.   What we thought was the flu and a quick trip to the Emergency Room for a 1 year old, turned into a helicopter ride to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where my little girl was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  The 5+ days there were and are still a blur, from the sleepless nights, to countless professionals we met, not to mention all the information for the new lifestyle we were embarking on.  From that day, I decided that I would fundraise to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.  That November 28^th, I felt I needed to help make a change for those with Type 1 diabetes.  That day, I decided that I would support JDRF (now Breakthrough T1D), an organization that has changed so many lives of those diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

Emmy is now a 6 year old little girl, who does not let her diabetes define her or stop her.  She is in kindergarten, has a love for the outdoors, golfing, playing softball, dancing and tumbling, playing with her Barbies, everything Disney, and princesses.  Emmy will also be running in her 2nd Pittsburgh Kids Marathon with me. She sees no boundaries! Where many may think of her devices as an inconvenience or hardship, she sees her insulin pump and glucose monitors as special devices that make her unique and special. Although they can be a challenge at times, they are challenges that   she accepts. 

The money raised for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) will go to help diabetics with treatments, prevention, and to one day find a cure for Type 1 diabetes through research. Any little bit will help to support Breakthrough T1D and children like Emmy and to ultimately find a cure for diabetes.  Thank you!
