Limited Numbers:

This event is limited to 500 competitors. If you are looking at entering we suggest you do so ASAP as we will sell out.


Race Briefing:

The race brief on Friday evening must be attended by all 100km and 54km competitors.

Nutrition throughout the run

T-Shirt (100km, 54km and 24km events)

Finishers medal

2 Reflective Slap Bands (100km and 54km)

Sunday breakfast at participating Cafés and Hotels in Hokitika before prize giving.

The 6km runners/walkers receive a Breakfast Voucher (No T-Shirt or Reflective Slap bands)


Bus to Start:

If you require a bus ticket to the start you can purchase this for $25.00


  • * A Bus will run from Hokitika to Greymouth to the start of the 100km
  • * A Bus will run from Hokitika to Old Christchurch Road to the start of the 54km
  • * A Bus will run from Hokitika to Lake Kaniere to the start of the 24km

  • * A Bus will run from Hokitika to Kaniere Township to the start of the 6km




Private vehicles for the start of the 54km is very limited due to parking in the surrounding area given the darkness and location. We recommend all participants do take the bus. Spectators will not see the start as the start is 400m from Old Christchurch Road and competitors walk into the start after Race Briefing.


Bus tickets can be purchased online when entering, if your partner wants to see you start then they will have to make their own way to the start as the bus is only available for competitors.


Age Restrictions:

All competitors in the 54km and 100km events are to be 18 years or older.
All competitors in the 24km event must be 16 years or older.
All competitors in the 6km event must be 10 years or older.


Refunds/Transfers:

For this event the following Policy applies for withdrawals and refunds by a competitor:

Up until to 31 December 2024 you will receive a refund of 60% of your entry fee

1 January to 31 January 2025 you will receive a refund of 50% of your entry fee

1 February to 28 February 2025 you will receive a refund of 40% of your entry fee

1 March to 31 March 2025 you will receive a refund of 30% of your entry fee

1 April 2025 onward No refund


There will be no transfers to next year’s event;

There will be no transfer to another competitor;


You will be able to transfer to a shorter distance up to 31 March 2025 with a $25 Administration Fee. There will be no partial refunds provided for the shorter distance. If you transfer to a shorter distance after 31 March 2025 a late transfer fee of $35.00 applies. There are no transfers to a shorter distance after 30th April 2025.


No Merchandise will be refunded, including bus tickets and cancellation and withdrawal insurances.
Please do not ask after 1 April 2025 for refunds as the above Policy will be adhered too and it is always tough saying no to these requests but we have too.

Cancellation of Events:

Should the event have to be cancelled due to Force Majeure, Disease or Pandemic, there will be no refund of entry fees. Whether this is before or after any of the Refund or Transfer dates.
  • Competitors do have the option of purchasing a CJM’S Cancellation Insurance when entering the event.

  • CJM’S Cancellation Insurance will refund your entry fee in case of cancellation of the event by CJM'S Events Ltd.. This will cover the cancellation of the event for any reason including Force Majeure, Disease or Pandemic.

  • When entering if you wish to purchase CJM’S Cancellation Insurance, you do so in the merchandise section. If the event was to be cancelled, the amount of your entry fee is the amount that would be refunded.

  • CJM'S Events also offers Withdrawal Cover which can be purchased at the time of entry. This allows a competitor to withdraw from the event up to 7 Days before the event and they receive their entry fee back in full. This overrides the withdrawal and refunds above and gives competitors the sleep easy if they get injured or catch a virus like Covid up until the week before the Ultra.

  • No Bus tickets or merchandise will be refunded.

Terms and Conditions:

  • I agree to abide by the Event Rules and with the directions of the officials and their personnel.
  • I will comply with all the directions given on the entry forms, emails, newsletters, confirmation letters, race pack information, pre-race safety briefings and course signage.
  • I agree to allow the organisers and sponsors to use photographs, video and film taken during the event to advertise their products or to promote the event at no cost to the organisers and sponsors. No photographs, video and film taken during the event can be used by any party for commercial purposes without prior written consent by CJM'S Events Ltd.
  • I understand that participation in this event is at my own risk and I accept full responsibility for obtaining adequate skills to negotiate and avoid the hazards on the course. Participants are required to obey New Zealand traffic law at all times while on public roads.
  • I understand that the Race Organisers may alter the advertised course, race briefing or start times for safety or other reasons.
  • I am fully responsible for my personal belongings at the event.
  • I am in sound physical condition and health, capable of safely competing in the event, and am not aware of any medical condition to the contrary by participating,
  • I accept all risks flowing from my participation that could result in loss of life or permanent injury or damage to property. Accordingly I release all persons or corporations associated directly or indirectly with the conduct of the event from all claims, demands and proceedings arising out of my participation and I hereby indemnify them against all liability for all injury, loss or damage arising out of or connected with any act or omission by me in the course of my participation in this event. This release shall extend to and include promoters, sponsors, the organisers of the event and their respective directors, partners, managers, officers, agents, contractors, employees and volunteers including medical and paramedical personnel appointed for the event, the owners, licensees and occupiers of land upon which the event or any part of it is conducted, any statutory body or local authority having control over any land upon which the event is conducted or which is directly or indirectly associated with the event in any manner whatsoever. This release and indemnity continues forever and binds my heirs, executors, personal representatives and assigns.



CJM'S Cancellation Insurance:
Competitors do have the option of purchasing a CJM’S Cancellation Insurance when entering the event.
CJM’S Cancellation Insurance will refund your entry fee in case of cancellation of the event. This will cover the cancellation of the event for any reason including Force Majure, Disease or Pandemic.
When entering if you wish to purchase CJM’S Cancellation Insurance, you do so in the Merchandise section. If the event was to be cancelled, the amount of your entry fee is the amount that would be refunded. No Merchandise fee is refunded.

Prize giving:
Category prizes 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be awarded along with spot prizes. To receive these prizes you have to be at prize giving to receive both spot and category prizes

If you choose not to provide personal information when requested, certain services or quality of services may not be available to you. Otherwise CJM'S Events Ltd will not allow third parties access to your information without your approval.
