Canadian Death Race Update
Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
This is it! Race week. We are just a few days away from the 25th running of the Canadian Death Race! If you missed the previous update, you can find it here: https://raceroster.com/events/2025/94301/death-race/page/may-race-update
If you have not checked out the Racer Information Package, now is your chance. Homework time: https://www.sinistersports.ca/deathrace/racer_information_package
While the weather in the Rockies can change quickly, right now it is looking really cool and rainy. We will be adding some extra supplies and tents to the main aid stations, but you are the best person to take care of yourself in the wilderness. Be prepared. Our mandatory gear list is minimal, but you need to take steps to ensure your safety while travelling on course. We can respond when things go wrong, but you can help prevent an untimely end to your race by being prepared. This is the back of the race bib:
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Some of our key positions on the course are without volunteers! Volun-TELL your friends and family to sign up, because aid stations need all the love they can get. We have awesome swag for volunteers, and fun times interacting with the racers. https://www.sinistersports.ca/deathrace/volunteer
COURSE CHANGE – LEG 2 + 3
One thing has always bothered me about Leg 3 of CDR. Why on earth did anyone think it was a good idea to run through the town landfill? Thanks to the work of the MD of Greenview (Grande Cache), and all the trail sprites out there, we now have access to a great trail that will allow us to make a simple revision. In order to avoid overlap, we have to make a revision to Leg 2; I mean, can you imagine the leaders going up Powerline with incoming racers hurtling down on them like fleshy cannonballs? Now, on the descent of Leg 2, you will take a left onto El Grande trail (mislabelled on Google Maps), which is a lot more fun anyway, and you still get to drop down the craziest part of Powerline. Then, on Leg 3, you will go up Powerline (mislabelled as El Grande on Google Maps), and hang a hard left into the woods, which takes you well above the landfill. A bit more hilly, and just a bit longer than the original route.
The GPX files are updated on the website if you want to take a gander on your own device. https://www.sinistersports.ca/deathrace/course
LEG 2 SHUTTLE
I am going to keep repeating this. TA200 (end of leg 1 / start of leg 2) gets extremely congested. DO NOT go there unless you have to. You WILL be turned away this year. Leg 2 Relay runners should take the shuttle bus to the TA. We will keep parking open for support crews only. Spectators will not be allowed onto the access road at all. Everyone is welcome to take the bus. We will have two buses running this year to make it easier for everyone.
WORLDWIDE DEATH RACERS
Take a look at this heat map of where all of our Death Racers are located. What an amazing, international group of people. If you are travelling from afar, or if this is your first time at CDR, just know that the community of racers you are about to meet is incredibly supportive and helpful.
LIGHT UP YOUR RACE WITH FENIX
FENIX is back as our lighting sponsor, and they are offering all of our competitors a 16% discount on your next online order. I'm an industrial designer by trade, so I love innovative products, and I cannot say enough good things about these headlamps.
