Huntington’s disease is classified as a rare disease. It is a hereditary neurodegenerative disorder caused by a genetic mutation. This mutation triggers the progressive death of specific brain cells, leading to a variety of symptoms that affect:🚶♂️➡️ the movement, ❤️ emotions and 🧠 cognitive abilities. Symptoms usually develop between the ages of 35 and 55 and gradually worsen until the person needs help with daily life. There is no cure for HD, but medications can help control some symptoms. This year, as I prepare to run the 10km race in the Montreal Marathon, I’m doing it to support the Huntington Society of Quebec. This is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of people affected by Huntington’s disease. 🏃♂️ How Can You Help? 🏃♀️ Your donation will support research, provide patient and family support, and promote awareness of HD.
