Run. Walk. Make a Difference.
Purpose: The Unite Memphis 5K and 1-mile walk/run is a community-focused event designed to showcase that the dream of unity is alive in Memphis. It brings together people from all walks of life to share goodwill, celebrate diversity, and demonstrate a shared commitment to healing, honor, and hope for our city.
History: For the first three years, we hosted the Race for Reconciliation (R4R) as an annual gathering to inspire Memphians to engage in the daily work of bridging divides while raising funds to close the education gap in Memphis. Initially held on MLK Day, the event was postponed in 2024 due to severe weather and rescheduled for Labor Day. Moving into our fourth year, we’ve got big news—same date (Labor Day), same incredible mission (building a brighter future for our city), but a brand-new name: Unite Memphis!
New Partnership with the National Civil Rights Museum: Unite Memphis is proud to announce an official partnership with the National Civil Rights Museum. While the museum has been involved since the beginning, this deeper level of engagement marks a significant milestone in our shared mission. The partnership will bring new historical and educational elements to the event, allowing participants to reflect on Memphis' past while actively contributing to a more unified future. Additionally, this year’s race will be held at the National Civil Rights Museum, aligning with 901 Day to amplify the message of unity and civic pride.
Details: Run in the 5K, or jog, walk, or stroll the 1-mile course. Either way, come out and show unity with friends, family, food, and fun.
- Time: Monday, Sept. 1, 2025 (Labor Day) | 9:30 AM
