My Story…
Dear friends and family,
As many of you know, I’ve been running the Canada Army Run for several years now, and each time I’ve been humbled by your generosity, especially the RMC Class of 74. Your past support has truly meant the world to me in my battle with cancer — and to those in our military community who’ve benefited from it.
This year is especially meaningful. My rare neuroendocrine cancer remains stable (great news from my oncologist!), and I’m taking that as my cue to keep moving forward — quite literally. On Sunday, September 21st, I’ll be in Ottawa, running the 10 km event with the same purpose: to support our troops, veterans, and their families.
Since 2008, the Canada Army Run has raised over $5 million for Support Our Troops and Soldier On, providing everything from family resiliency programs to rehabilitation and reintegration support for those with physical or mental injuries.
I feel blessed to have served 22 years in the Canadian Armed Forces without major health consequences. Many of our comrades (and families) have not been so fortunate, and this is one way we can give back.
If you can, I’d be deeply grateful for any contribution you’re able to make this year — no matter the size. Even sharing this message with others helps.
Thank you for standing with me, for standing with our troops, and for helping us turn every kilometer into something that matters.
With gratitude and God’s Blessing,
Al McLuskie, CMR/RMC 9996, Class of 1974
