COURSE CHANGE

Due to very obvious bear activity on the trail to Paradise Lake, we are modifying Leg 1. Our flagging crew has noticed signs and today saw a bear enjoying a meal on the trail close to the CP1a. While the bear showed no signs of aggression, we do not want to put our volunteers or racers in a situation where they are stuck out there with it either.

You will now do an out-and-back on Leg 1 to the top of the snow cat track, just with one minor variation on the way up vs down. The down route remains the same. At the top, you will have to collect a coin to show you were there, which you will return to CP1b. This decreases the distance by about 800m but with similar elevation. The one hill is a doozy!

We are working with Castle Mountain Resort to close the trail and alert the public.
