This year’s Campfire Circle 10K run holds significant meaning for me as I run in honor of my daughter, Sophie, who has been bravely battling cancer since December 2017. On January 26th, 2025, we received the heartbreaking news that her cancer has returned aggressively, presenting us with immense challenges. Sophie now faces a 9c m tumor wrapped around the bottom of her spine, which is pinching her nerves and causing her immense pain. In addition to this, she is dealing with abdominal spasms, urinary tract infections, constipation, and tremors in her hands. Despite these overwhelming obstacles, Sophie continues to inspire us with her strength and resilience.

Throughout this journey, the unwavering support from the members and volunteers of Campfire Circle have been a beacon of hope for Sophie and countless other children facing similar battles. Their dedication to providing comfort, joy, and companionship during hospital visits has made an incredible difference in our lives. They help manage pain, alleviate anxiety, and create moments of joy through crafts, movies, and play.

As I prepare to run for Sophie and for every child like her, I am committed to raising funds to support the invaluable work of Campfire Circle. Last year, we successfully raised over $15,000, and this year, I aim to surpass that figure. However, I cannot do this alone.
