As an uninvited settler from Hong Kong, I carry with me a deep commitment to justice and a desire to contribute meaningfully to this community.

Since arriving, I’ve had the privilege of serving seniors living in Single Room Occupancies (SROs) in the Downtown Eastside, supporting people with substance use disorders as a social worker in a Withdrawal Management facility, and regularly visiting those incarcerated in Correctional Services Canada institutions.

These experiences have revealed how deeply systemic inequities shape lives—and how urgent the need is for compassion, resources, and change.

Though still relatively new to Canada, this year marks my second time running the Under Armour Eastside 10K to raise funds for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, an organization that uplifts and empowers some of the most marginalized women in our city.
