My Story…
Last year's race was such a success, from both a race AND fundraising standpoint, that I am signing up again with hopes of improving on both of these aspects!
Since last year, there have been more people in my life who have gone through battles with cancer experiencing both victories and losses. Seeing these people fight this battle while seeing massive cuts to funding for cancer research is incredibly disheartening. This year, I am hoping to raise more money than last year and will be challenging myself to improve my race time.
Last year, my finishing time for the marathon was 3:15, which was 40 minutes faster than my time in 2011!! Who says you slow down with age?? I was very happy with that time, but being someone who likes to push myself, I am setting a goal of a race time of under 3 hours.
Most of this motivation comes from seeing the strength, drive and courage of many people going through the battle with cancer. The fight that they put forth, lets me know that I can push myself to do more than I feel like I can.
If you want to give me some extra motivation to run really fast, make a donation. If you just want to put some money towards a great cause, make a donation. If you want to pay to see me beat the crap out of myself, make a donation. Whatever YOUR motivation is, a donation will go a long way to aid in cancer research!
Thank you so much for your donation, and I will do my best to break the 3 hour time!
