My Story…
Hi! I’m running the Philadelphia Marathon in support of the AACR (American Association for Cancer Research), one of the marathon’s official charities. I’m raising funds to help fuel groundbreaking research — and, hopefully one day, a cure for cancer.
As many of you know, cancer has deeply touched my family. My dad fought a valiant two-year battle against kidney cancer before we lost him four years ago. Thanks to groundbreaking clinical trials, I was given an extra year and a half with him — time I’ll always be grateful for.
Last year, my mom bravely fought and won her battle against stage 3 lung cancer. After months of chemo and a major surgery that removed half her right lung, she’s now celebrating one year cancer-free.
And my uncle — who has been one of my biggest supporters and mentors in running — is currently fighting pancreatic cancer. His strength, encouragement, and training plans have carried me through countless miles, and I’m running this race with him in my heart.
If you’re able to donate, your contribution will help fund life-saving research and give more families hope. Your donation might just be the reason someone else’s loved one wins their battle.
Xoxo,
Katelyn
