SOO 200 UPDATE
Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
Thanks for your patience while we worked through getting the course online. What has changed:
- The southern part of the course remains mostly unchanged, despite what we thought a month ago, and instead of coming from the far north, the race now starts at Searchmont Resort, just northeast of Sault Ste. Marie
- This will also be a primary staging area, and you come back though here twice, which support crews will love
- You will complete two loops to the north and east of Searchmont, which starts out easy... but in true Sinister fashion will get you into some really rugged terrain
- From Searchmont, you run to Stokely, and you still get to cross the Roberston Cliffs – how could we have it any other way?
- Pacers can join you at the start of segment 3 from
- A loop on the amazing trails in the Stokely area has been added; this will highlight the true nature of the Algoma area, which includes pocket lakes, and the rough, rolling hills of the Canadian shield
- The course now extends farther south to Gros Cap, which gives you a long stretch of coastal terrain to run
- This is where you will pick up your race coin
- There is a section of approximately 11km of out-and-back, so you get to see all of your friends who are close behind
- The final support crew accessible staging area is at Glenview Cottages and Campground – a big shout-out to them for their support
- The course will be so easy for support crews and pacers to get around, and driving directions will be available soon
- Accommodations are also available at Searchmont, Stokely, and Glenview Cottages and Campground, so they can enjoy a posh experience
- We are currently unsure if the train will take us from SSM to Searchmont, as they are in their off season, and we have not been able to reach them - we will get you there either way, unless you want to stay at Searchmont the night before
- Note that this also allows us to start the race earlier, so you can take advantage of more daylight
