SOO 200 UPDATE
Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
I said I would likely be sending another update, and here it is. Our crew has been out working on the course for a while now, and they have gathered a lot of intel on what it looks like out there. We have made a few course changes, which are now on the website and ready to download. Why changes so close to the race, you might ask? It all has to do with conditions, trail changes, and accessibility. Plus, we are just getting better GPS routes every time we go out. Note that RUNGO is not currently updated on the map, as it is extremely difficult to modify routes in that app. The GPX files and Google Map on the course page are updated.

- Start to CP1 to CP2 – no change (just a better route file)
- CP2 to CP3 to CP4 to CP5 – rerouted due to a missing bridge - we have to move CP4, but the route is largely the same... you just are going a different direction and the upper loop is shorter
- CP5 to CP6 – no change
- CP6 to CP7 – one of the trails we used to access Stokely Creek is in bad shape so we are using an adjacent trail... this will also mean a bit of overlap so mind the arrows out there
- CP7 to CP8 – This loop has been modified to make it flow a bit better, and get you to King Mountain Hut for your coin pickup
- CP8 to CP9 – The original trail is overgrown and quite boggy, so we are routing you around the south side of Bone Lake instead
- CP9 to CP10 – CP9 is now an UNMANNED water station, and CP10 has been moved 3km south due to an impassable washout
- CP10 to CP11 – no change (just a better route file)
- CP11 to CP12 – rerouted around a boggy section, and the new route is just to the east
- CP12 to CP13 – just cleaned up the access to the CP on the route
- CP13 to finish – just cleaned up the access to the CP on the route
When in doubt, follow our markers!
LIVE TRACKING
We use a web app called Spotwalla to track your progress. You can send this to your family and friends, and they can see where you are on the course. https://spotwalla.com/lp/972e-7440e512-8cb7/view
We will be going a bit low-tech with our timing, which will be recorded on a Google Spreadsheet, but you do have the tracking app above to see how everyone is doing.
GARMIN USE
We are providing everyone with a Garmin inReach Mini 2 to use for the event. You must keep it turned on at all times. You can use your own device, but ours is mandatory, and it is how we keep track of everyone.
CONDITIONS
It's brushy and wet out there. Consider long sleeves, and long pants... and bring bug spray. Also consider buying a Thermocell bug deterrent that you can carry with you.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We still need a number of volunteers, so make sure you spread the word!

See you tonight!
