Ready for a Challenge with a Twist of History?
The NBMCA looks forward to hosting the exciting Mattawa River Canoe Race (MRCR) presented by Susan Weiskopf, IG Wealth Management in 2025!
A 64 km demanding and challenging Canoe/Kayak/SUP Race. The race begins in North Bay and ends at Mattawa Island Conservation Area in the Town of Mattawa. The route follows the fabulous Mattawa River, a Canadian Heritage River, through lakes, rivers and some rapids. There are 12 portages along the route, which 5 are mandatory and the others are dependent on water levels and paddler ability and skill.
The 13 km race is intended to be social, friendly and fun. The course is achievable for most paddlers with only one portage. This use to be for only families and youth, and we have opened it up to all paddlers.
Fees include: registration, race management and safety, free t-shirt, top 3 finisher medals, 1st place prizes (each category) and OMCKRA Insurance fees ($8 will be refunded if you are an OMCKRA member).
Please note the following change in 2025: Registration Fee does not include Dinner and Banquet. Dinner and Banquet tickets need to be purchased separately.
Please note: As the race will be held in early spring PFD's (the label must state that the PFD has been approved by Transport Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, Fisheries and Oceans Canada or any combination thereof) will be mandatory to wear throughout the race.
