Laurie Melchionda Foundation

The Laurie Melchionda Foundation was launched by her family to carry on her legacy and life's work as a leader in the nursing community. Our mission to spread "Laurie's Love of Life" will continue her efforts of giving back, with a focus on education and health and wellness. Money raised during the Falmouth road race will be used to support the first pillar in our mission statement, education. 

The Laurie Melchionda Scholarship was established in 2022 at her alma mater, UMass Boston. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support to one or more undergraduate and/or graduate student(s) in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences who have unmet financial need. The scholarship is a perpetual tribute to Laurie’s devotion to her community and the children for whom she cared at Boston Children’s Hospital, in the Braintree and Weston Public school systems, and as a member of the Braintree and Weston Board of Health.  It is a testament to a working mom and the values she instilled in pursuing higher education.
