Orchestre symphonique de Montréal

Founded in 1934 by Antonia Nantel, Wilfrid Pelletier, and Athanase David, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) has become a cornerstone of musical life in Quebec and across Canada. Renowned worldwide, it welcomes the most celebrated conductors and soloists at the Maison symphonique. Under the direction of Rafael Payare, the OSM continues a proud tradition of artistic excellence through its tours, recordings, and major projects, while serving as a vibrant cultural ambassador.

Education and nurturing young talent have been at the heart of the OSM’s mission since its founding. Through programs aimed at school-aged children and emerging musicians, the orchestra plays a vital role in inspiring the next generation.

From Matinées scolaires and educational workshops to La musique aux enfants, we strive to ensure that every young person in the greater Montreal area has the opportunity to experience music and the OSM at least once before finishing school.

Through masterclasses, collaborations with the Conservatory network, the Concours OSM, and the Immersion orchestrale project, the OSM continues to support and develop the next generation of Quebecois and Canadian musicians.
