Our story…

Written by Eric Paternostro

Angiosarcoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that begins in the cells lining blood vessels. Because these vessels exist throughout the body, the disease can spread quickly and is often difficult to detect early. Angiosarcoma grows rapidly, invades vital organs, and interferes with the body’s ability to function normally. Even with treatment, it is often resistant to therapy, which is why research and early detection are so critical. Too many lives are lost because there are limited treatment options and little public awareness of this devastating disease.
This run is held in loving memory of my wife and mother of Ella and Dante, Deborah Petraroia.

Deborah was tall, beautiful, fit, and graceful—but even more than that, she was deeply kind. She carried herself with strength and warmth, and she had a presence that made people feel cared for and at ease. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, the heart of her family.
Deborah was diagnosed with angiosarcoma in February 2024. She faced her illness with courage and dignity, but this aggressive cancer took her life in May 2025—far too soon. She is deeply missed by all who knew her, and her love continues to live on through her family and friends.

This run honors Deborah’s life and supports research so that one day, families will not have to endure the same loss. We run for Deborah, and for hope.
