My Story…
I’m running this marathon for the Vascular Health Unit because atherosclerosis is still quietly killing people who did “everything right.” Atherosclerosis is a disease in which plaques build up in major arteries, in which then causes heart attacks and strokes when they rupture.
As a physician-scientist in training, I study why some plaques suddenly become more prone to rupture and why this risk differs between people, especially between men and women. That science is not abstract to me, as it represents real patients, real families, and moments where prevention came too late.
This fundraiser supports research that moves cardiovascular care beyond reacting to crises and toward understanding, prediction, and prevention. It supports the work of a team committed to uncovering the biology behind plaque rupture and translating it into better risk assessment and treatment. I’m running the full marathon because progress in cardiovascular disease requires endurance, precision, and collective effort. Your support helps turn research into fewer heart attacks, fewer strokes, and more lives uninterrupted.
