As a psychologist working in a hospital setting, I have seen firsthand the impact that a stay in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) can have on patients and their families. In addition to the challenges of physical recovery, patients may experience a range of emotional difficulties that persist beyond their time in hospital. Programs like the Critical Illness Recovery Centre provide crucial support during this vulnerable period, helping patients regain not only their physical health but also their sense of well-being and quality of life. I am running this half-marathon to raise funds and awareness for this important work, and to support a program that continues to make a meaningful, lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families.
