Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters, 

For most of my life, swimming, cycling and running were a huge part of who I am. As a competitive triathlete and seven-time national champion in the Dominican Republic, I was working toward my dream of competing at the Olympic Games.

Then, at 27, everything changed. I was diagnosed with a rare genetic heart condition that progressively made it impossible for my heart to function properly. After years of treatment, I was toldthat I needed a heart transplant. On February 1, 2021, after more than two years on the transplant waiting list, I received a new heart at the McGill University Health Centre. I will always begrateful to Dr. Cecere, Surgical Director of the Heart Failure & Thoracic Transplant Program, who performed my transplant, and to the entire team whose expertise and care gave me a second chance at life. 

Today, I am grateful to be active again. That is why I am proud to be running in the 2026 Montreal Beneva Marathon as part of the Cardiac Transplant Team, raising funds for the MUHC Heart Transplant and Heart Failure Program. I will be joined by someone who’s been by my side since day one, along with two of my coaches who have supported me throughout my journey. 

Together, we’ll run to celebrate how far I’ve come and give back to the program that made this possible. For me, this run is about much more than crossing a finish line. It is about hope, gratitude and helping other patients and families facing heart failure and the possibility of a heart transplant.
