Canadian Death Race Update

Two weeks to go! Either you should be cramming or tapering. What is your strategy?
There is not much point in trying to predict the weather in the Rockies this far out, but going from experience, I want to be sure you are ready. You are the best person to take care of yourself in the wilderness. Be prepared. Our mandatory gear list is minimal, but you need to take steps to ensure your safety while travelling on course. We can respond when things go wrong, but you can help prevent an untimely end to your race by being prepared. This is the back of the race bib:

MINOR COURSE CHANGE – LEG 1
We have tried a few different things for the start line at CDR. To me, keeping people off pavement and on trail is paramount. So we will be making a little change to leg 1 again, just from the start line. Instead of going down Shand Ave and then 106 St, you will be going just along one block of Hoppe to 110 St and then straight onto trails. Two blocks of pavement. This will make the route about 300m longer, but you don't mind! ;)
We have discussed this with Grande Cache Enforcement Services with the goal of minimizing the time on roads. They will also be out in force over the weekend, helping with the highway crossing near the start of the race. So a big thank you to the MD of Greenview and GC Enforcement Services for that!
This change will be updated over the weekend so that you can download the GPX files. The map below shows the old route in blue, and the new route in yellow.
LEG 2 SHUTTLE
We going to keep repeating this. TA200 (end of leg 1 / start of leg 2) gets extremely congested. DO NOT go there unless you have to. You WILL be turned away this year. Leg 2 Relay runners should take the shuttle bus to the TA. We will keep parking open for support crews only. Spectators will not be allowed onto the access road at all. Everyone is welcome to take the bus. The buses will run in rotation for the first four hours, and we do not leave anyone behind!
Buses start just west of the Start/Finish area, in front of Holy Cross Catholic Church, go to TA200, then run right back to the same spot.
Support crews can forgo worrying about parking if they hop on board and get delivered right to the site.

Canadian Death Race has always been supported by a number of groups, and we want to give a big shout-out to both Grande Cache SAR and the Canadian Rangers.
