For beginners to Olympians and everyone in between, walkers to runners and all ages.

Enjoy the 46th annual Harriers Pioneer 8K back at its original home in Saanichton, starting and ending at the Saanich Fairgrounds.

The course is not the original; however, the course difficulty (or easiness), and elevation profile will be very similar.

IMPORTANT: Come to the Series kickoff event on Friday, January 9th, at Frontrunners Footwear at Yates and Vancouver Streets. Enjoy beverages, food, entertainment, and pick up your season pass.

Also, Harriers Pioneer 8K race bib pick up is available at the event for those who have registered for the Pioneer 8K.

Registration fee includes admin fee, but not 5% GST.

No pets are permitted to accompany a participant. Only registered guide dogs are permitted. All visually impaired participants accompanied by an assisting runner or guide dog must start at the back of the field.

The use of headphones of any sort are discouraged. While not banned, a participant can be disqualified for impeding another athlete, operations, or emergency services.

HIGH PERFORMING ATHLETES – This race has prize money and offers complimentary entries to applicants who meet or are near set performance standards. Details on the club's Pioneer 8K page.

Important Event Information

1. Online registration will close at 12 noon on Friday, January 9th

2. There is an online processing fee applied to all online registrations.

3. Payable in Canadian funds. VISA, MC, AMEX and Discover Card accepted. Your credit card statement will show a charge from Fast North Corp or Race Roster for your registration into this event.

4. Entry fee is non-refundable and non transferable between participants.

5. Current PIH club members are entitled to a $10 discount. You can join the club as part of the registration process and get the discount.

When registering for the Vancouver Island Race Series season pass you do not have to belong to a team or club, however:

If you do not belong to a club either: join one or if you would rather not, when registering, choose “unattached” as your team. This one extra step is there to remind people who are in a club to indicate so. The team or club competitions are fun and coaches and club admins want to make sure everyone is earning points for their team.

Please remember these are road running races and are open to runners, racewalkers, walkers, and wheelchair athletes only:

  • No roller blades/inline skates
  • No strollers
  • No cycling or other forms of transportation are permitted except for designated official cyclists
  • No headphones permitted. If you impede a participant, emergency response vehicle or race officials and cannot hear instructions, and are wearing headphones at the time, you are subject to disqualification
