We at the Northumberland Turkey Trot acknowledge and express our deep gratitude to the First Peoples of this land. We recognize that we are gathering on the traditional territory of the Alderville First Nation, a community of the Mississauga Ojibway Nation, and we honour their enduring presence, culture, and care for these lands and waters.
Land acknowledgements are only a first step; truth must precede reconciliation. As families, runners, and neighbours come together in support of the YMCA, we invite you to reflect on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
