Castle Alpine Trail Race Update
Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
https://raceroster.com/events/2026/114202/castle-alpine-trail-race/page/september-10-update
Your bib number is |*BIB_NUMBER*|, and you are registered in the |*SUB_EVENT*| category.
Be sure to take a look at the schedule. https://www.sinistersports.ca/castlealpine/#details
WAIVERS FOR CASTLE MOUNTAIN
In addition to our race waiver, Castle Mountain Resort requires everyone to fill out their special event waiver as well. You cannot fill it out for someone else, unless they are a minor under your care.
Get the waiver here! Please print the signed copy that is emailed to you and bring it along. I know – paper... in 2026? ;)
A few runners were registered by others, so they will not have a signed waiver for the race, which means you will be signing on paper... again... if that includes you.
WEATHER AND CONDITIONS
So far, for the first time this season, the weather is looking darn near perfect. It will be cool in the morning, but luckily the first leg of the race is big ol' grind, and it will get you warmed up quickly.
BUGS – there should be almost none. They're all getting sleepy and dopey at this time of year.
TRAIL CONDITIONS – near perfection. Note that on Leg 1 and leg 3, it is really brushy in a couple of spots. You do not need a machete or anything; you will just have to follow the flags through the low growth and grass. That is part of the appeal of CAT: it throws a little bit of everything at you.

WILDLIFE
We have not heard of any recent encounters or bears that are staying put in one area long-term, but it is entirely likely that some of you will see a bear on the course. I have been hosting races in the Rockies for 24 years, and we have had an encounter at every race. By "encounter" I mean, "look - there's a bear" and that's about the extent of it most of the time.
This area is known for grizzly bears because they love the huckleberries up on the green slopes. I will be doing a bear awareness talk, but you can find out more about best practices here. https://bearsmart.org/recreate/bear-encounters
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We still need a few more volunteers to help make the experience the best it can be. Volunteers get some fun swag and dinner with the racers after the event. Send us your people! https://www.sinistersports.ca/castlealpine/volunteer
SAFETY
This is just a reminder that you will be out in the wilderness, and being at a resort does not change that. Make sure to take steps to keep yourself safe out there.
We will see you soon. If you have questions, do not hesitate to reach out.
Kindest regards,
Brian Gallant
