My Story…

Hi,

Eight years ago I began my personal journey with Parkinson's Disease. I lived in Ottawa at that time and I participated in several fundraising campaigns in support of the Parkinson's Disease Research at The Ottawa Hospital.

Since then I have moved from Ottawa to Victoria, British Columbia and I have joined the Victoria-based Parkinson Wellness Project (PWP) which runs a variety of exercise and support programs to help those people with Parkinsons and their caregivers. I take part in a weekly Rock Steady Boxing as well as the PWP Art Display. And Jayne gives time as a volunteer at a fitness class and at Rock Steady Boxing.

PWP doesn’t charge any fees for their services, allowing barrier-free access to those who need it. They provide day-to-day mental and physical support and camaraderie. They are beneficial to a large number of Parkinsons people in the Victoria community.

The Victoria Mile (formerly known as the Douglas Mile) is PWP’s largest fundraising event of the year. Held on Victoria Day, the Victoria Mile raises funds for programs and services that improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s and their families. The walk takes place in downtown Victoria at the front end of the Victoria Day Parade (new route this year) on May 18, 2026. Please support my walk by making a tax-refundable contribution either to me or to a member of Rob's Team.

PWP is a registered charity that operates its facility and programs entirely through donations.

Thanks in advance for your support.
