Red Deer & Community Sun Run

Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a coupon for a hot dog or hamburger, a drink, and a bag of chips from the BBQ tent.

VOLUNTEER ROLES:

Event Setup
7:00 - 8:45 AM
Assist with setting up the Sun Run site before participants arrive. Tasks include unloading supplies, setting up tables, signage, and course markers, and preparing key areas such as registration, the start/finish lines, and the BBQ.

Course Marshal
9:45 - 11:30 AM
Help keep runners safe and on track along the racecourse. Volunteers will be stationed at key points to direct participants, monitor for safety, and cheer runners on.

Registration & Check-in
8:00 - 10:15 AM or 8:15 AM - 12:00 PM
Welcome participants and help them get race-ready. Responsibilities include checking in registered runners, assisting with on-site registration, distributing race packages, and answering basic event questions.

BBQ
9:30 AM - 1:00 PM or 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Assist with preparing and serving food at the BBQ area. Tasks include helping with basic food prep, handing out items to participants, restocking supplies, and keeping the area clean and organized.

Sensory Zone
11:30 AM - 2:30 PM or 2:30 - 4:30 PM
Support a calm, inclusive space for participants who may need a break from the event. Volunteers will help maintain a quiet, welcoming environment, guide individuals and families through available activities, and monitor capacity to ensure the space stays comfortable.

Kids' Zone
9:30 AM - 1:00 PM or 1:00 - 4:30 PM
Supervise inflatable play areas to ensure a safe and fun experience for all children. Responsibilities include monitoring age group areas, checking for wristbands, managing line flow, and enforcing safety rules. Volunteers may also collect payment and apply wristbands for children without them.
