Tour de L'Alberta - Biking Like A Viking | Sunday, July 12, 2026
We offer four non-timed Biosphere rides:
- 35 km
- 55 km
- 100 km, and
- 160 km.
All four rides start and finish at the Strathcona Olympiette Centre in Sherwood Park. New this year is the 35 km ride which allows more participants to experience the beauty of the Beaver Hills Biosphere. During each distance you will get plenty of opportunity to experience the diverse landscape of the Beaver Hills Biosphere and take in your surroundings. At the several rest stops we will provide refreshments and snacks to refuel you for the ride.

Add a twist to your ride by collecting the Biking Like a Viking Poker Cards along your ride. This Poker Ride Adventure brings an extra layer of fun for those cyclist who enjoy an extra challenge with their kilometres.
Find and collect the poker cards during your ride. The more cards you collect, the better your odds of winning draw prizes.
Your Biking Like a Viking registration includes a unique cycling experience with:
- Race entry for your chosen distance
- Professional marked road cycle tour
- Alberta Bicycle Association Event Insurance
- A Biking Like a Viking Bib
- Nutrition and Aid stations strategically located along the routes
- Finish Line Catering
- On course ambassadors to provide start line information and ensure safety
- Routes will be supported by motorcycle and bicycle marshals equipped with tools for light maintenance & repairs, extra water and nutrition, fully equipped bike maintenance vehicles and sag wagons

Enjoy the Biking Like a Viking Half Century 55 km ride which goes through the diverse landscapes of the Beaver Hills Biosphere. This 55 km route offers plenty of opportunity to take on the challenges of terrain shaped over 12,000 years and enjoy the Poker Ride Adventure. The well-place rest stop(s) along the way gives riders a chance to refuel, recover, and take in the views. Every kilometre is earned, and every finish is an accomplishment. - The following bikes are allowed: Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes and Pedal Assist E-bikes
- Participant needs to be 12 years or older
- Participant between 12 years and 18 years need to be accompanied by an adult. Waivers for participants between 12 years and 18 years need to be signed in person during race pack pickup.

The Canadian Birkebeiner Society promotes family participation and healthy activities for young people. For Tour de L'Aberta - Biking Like a Viking we are offering all participants between 12 - 18 yrs a 50% discount on the registration fee. Discount will be automatically applied during registration when registering a participant in the age group 12 - 18 yrs old. Please note a guardian will be required to sign a waiver for participants in this age group. - Earn money for your Cycle Club
