⚠️ EVENT CANCELLATION — Sunday 12th April
The Amuri Lions 4WD Back Country Event on the Whalesback and Mendip Hills Stations has been cancelled.
The remnants of Cyclone Vaianu are forecast to bring heavy rain to North Canterbury through Sunday, with conditions deteriorating through the day and into the evening. Canterbury Weather Update has issued a heavy rain watch for the region — you can see why in the image above.
Taking a convoy of vehicles into remote back country farm land in those conditions isn't something we're willing to do. The safety of our participants, our marshals, and the landowners who've hosted us comes first. Full stop.
Refunds: Everyone who has registered will receive a full refund through Race Roster. We'll get those processed as quickly as we can.
Still want a day out? Our neighbours at Hawarden-Waikari Lions are running their Hurunui Hills 4WD Tour across Foxdown Farm, Scargill Hills, Hitchen Hills and Mt Benger Station on Sunday 19th and Sunday 26th April. Gate opens 9am, vehicles away at 9:45am, about 4 hours, $90 per vehicle. Details and registration at the link below.
