Welcome to the Lions Scenic Tour of the , crossing the farms of The Whalesback and Mendip Hills. To keep all participants safe, we ask that you agree and adhere to the following:
1) I accept the nature of off-road four-wheel driving is adventurous and carries with it some degree of personal risk. I agree to assume the risk of personal injury and/or damage to my personal property while I drive on any of the above-mentioned properties.
2) If I am guardian to, or responsible for, any students/children participating in on-farm activities, I expressly agree to assume the risk of personal injury to them and/or damage to their personal property while they participate or assist in on-farm activities under my supervision.
3) If I am driving a 4x4 utility vehicle, I declare and confirm that:
a. I have no medical condition or injury, nor have taken any medicines, drugs or alcohol, that could impair my judgement or the safety of my passengers.
b. I am suitably experienced in off road driving.
c. I will ensure all passengers who accompany me on farm are restrained by seat belt.
d. I will ensure prior to vehicle start up the vehicle has a current warrant of fitness.
e. I will ensure 4-wheel drive is engaged at all times
f. I agree to stay on the designated formed hill track.
g. I will obey all instructions from event marshals.
h. I will maintain visual contact the vehicle both immediately in front and behind me.
i. If out of cell phone coverage, two Lions Club committee member vehicles will carry Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs). Participants are to familiarise themselves with which vehicles these are carried in the event of an emergency.
j. I acknowledge & understand the induction/prestart brief delivered by the organising Lions Club Committee and/or representative(s) of the above-mentioned farms.
k. I have been given notice prior to event start & based on the current state of knowledge, the pathway risks to sites of interest & the required controls to avoid an incident, or if an incident were to occur, the first response procedure.
4) I release, waive, indemnify and hold harmless Amuri Lions Club, Hawarden & Waikari Lions Club, and the the above-mentioned farms who have permitted access to land under their control, from and against claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal costs) that may be incurred during or in conjunction with my participation in on-farm activities, whether caused by negligence of any of the above mentioned parties or otherwise.
5) If I am not a resident of New Zealand, I declare that I will not attempt to avoid clause 4 of this document by commencing legal action in another country.
