Get ready to shine bright, move boldly, and paint the town every colour of the rainbow!
Join us for the YMCA Northumberland's Rainbow Run, a high-energy celebration of movement, inclusion, and Pride — all while raising funds to support the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign and Northumberland Pride.
Plus, new this year, kids 4 & under can have a blast in the Bubble Dash, where they chase Pickles the Unicorn through a short course surrounded by iridescent bubbles!
So, lace up your sneakers and choose between a 2.5 km or 5 km walk or run – either way, it’s all about spreading love, acceptance, well-being and some of that rainbow magic. This event celebrates inclusion, diversity, and healthy living during Pride and Indigenous Month while raising funds to support our community’s wellness.

As a token of accomplishment, the first 250 registered participants to cross the rainbow finish line will snag themselves a shiny tie-dye finisher medal.
In support of the YMCA Northumberland’s invaluable initiatives that provide a space for everyone to experience wellness, and in support of Northumberland Pride, participants are encouraged to seek donations for the Rainbow Run. If you raise $250 or more, you have the option to get your registration refunded**.
We encourage all attendees to embrace the festive spirit! Let's paint the town with our vibrant hues and celebrate the colours of the rainbow by dressing up in your most vivid and multi-toned outfits! 🎨🌈
So, come one, come all! We can’t wait to spread love and paint the town in a multicoloured rainbow at this epic family and community extravaganza!
Furry friends and strollers are also welcome.
This project has been made possible in part through the ParticipACTION Community Challenge Grant. The Community Challenge is a national physical activity initiative that encourages everyone to get active together throughout June, with Canada’s most active community winning the top prize of $100,000 to go towards local physical activity and sports initiatives.

Important Safety Note: For the safety of all participants, we strongly recommend against wearing iPods or similar audio devices that inhibit your ability to hear surrounding sounds. This is a danger to fellow participants and yourself if you cannot hear directions from a race official, event participant, or emergency vehicle.

YMCA Northumberland Course
The course is a 2.5 km course. Participants can walk or run the course. A 5 km option is available to participants. Participants would do the course 2 times should they wish to run a 5 km. The race starts at 10:15 am. Road closures are from 9:30 until 11:30 am.
Start at the Cobourg Yacht club.
•Head west towards the Boardwalk
•Take a small dip south towards the boat storage gate and back up towards the Boardwalk.
•Go onto the Boardwalk and head west until the end of the Boardwalk.
•Turn right onto Ontario Street. Head north.
•Turn right onto Sydenham Street (stay to your right). Go until Durham Street.
•Turn left onto Durham Street.
•Turn right onto Albert Street.
•Turn left onto Hibernia Street.
•Turn right onto King Street (stay on your right on King Street). Go until Second St. (Rainbow walk).
•Turn right onto Second Street. Go until the Waterfront Park (Frink).
•Move along the east path of Waterfront park until The Esplanade.
•Turn right on The Esplanade. Stay on the sidewalk until the first path.
•Turn left onto the path leading to the water.
•Turn right onto the bike path and travel west.
•Turn left at Third Street, staying on the sidewalk traveling south. Stay on the path going south towards the pier.
•Turn onto the path closest to the water and travel west to the finish line.
Route is 2.5Km. Participants doing 5K will do a second loop.
Parking
Parking:
Be advised that road closures are in effect as of 7:00 a.m.
After 7 am you can avoid the road closure and still get to the parking at the Harbour if you access it by driving south on Ontario Street, turn left onto Albert St, right on Hibernia St, and left onto Third Street. Remember it is paid parking from 9 am - 8 pm.
To access parking south of King Street travel south on Division Street. We encourage you to arrive early to find parking and to avoid traffic congestion due to run road closures. Carpool where possible.
There are many options for parking near the run starting line located at the Marina and along the waterfront. Waterfront parking, on-street and in waterfront parking lots, is enforced from 9am - 8pm, Monday to Sunday, holidays included, with the exception of the East Beach Parking Area, which is enforced from 9am to 4pm.. The following lots are included in Waterfront Parking:
- McGill Street lot
- Centennial Lot
- Charles Street Lot
- The Esplanade Lots (East and West)
- Albert Street Lot
On street and downtown lot PAID parking is available in Downtown Cobourg. The Town of Cobourg offers two (2) hours free parking in the following downtown municipal lots a short walk to the starting line at the Cobourg Marina:

- Second Street Parking Lot
- Victoria Square Parking Lot
- Third Street Parking Lot
- Hibernia Street Parking Lot
