Volunteer for this event
Volunteer details
Join us for a fun day on the mountain!
First off, a huge thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 3rd annual Poley Peak Pursuit. We simply would not have the successful events that we do without selfless people such as yourself. The race doesn't start until 11am, and we don't expect it to go beyond 1:30pm. Considering it is part of the Poley Mountain Fall Festival, there will be lots to do after the race is done. Grab a beverage, take in some of the vendors, or ride the chair to the top (requires a lift ticket).
Although you will receive a volunteer guide prior to race day, we thought a short explanation would be helpful when deciding what role to take on. If a role is not on the list it is because it's full!
Check-in/Race kit Pickup
This happens on Saturday from 9am to 10:30am. We ask that you arrive no later than 8:45am to ensure you are ready for the rush. Considering your role is done at 10:30am, we may put you on course as a 'Course Marshal' to help direct the runners. Let us know by email if you can't stay for the entire event (saintjohntrailrunning@gmail.com)
Course Marshal
Course Marshals are positioned at key spots along the route to show racers where to go, and to provide encouragement. We'd like you to arrive no later than 10am to ensure we can get into position before the first racers comes by. There's a chance you will need to hike 2-3kms with up to 150 meters of climbing.
Summit Aid Station
There will be an aid station located near the top of the Alpine Chair, which sits at roughly 150 meters. You will need to hike 2-3kms with up to 150 meters of climbing. Shorter, if you choose the steeper line. You will not be expected to lug any gear or food. The aid station isn't used by many runners, so the majority of your job will be to bring the vibes! :)
If you don't care, feel free to select that option and we will put you somewhere. If you can't stay for the entire event, please let us know as soon as possible.
