Help Mason raise money

My name is Mason Gross, and I am a High School Special Education teacher in the Pittston Area School District. In addition to teaching, I serve as an assistant varsity coach for the Pittston Area Girls Basketball Team and coach girls travel basketball for NEPA Elite based out of Scranton.

A proud Pittston Area graduate from the Class of 2014, I continued my education and athletic career at Wilkes University, earning a bachelor's degree in biology in 2019 and a Master of Business Administration in 2023. During my time at Wilkes, I spent four years as a member of the men’s basketball team. Following college, I played two seasons of semi-professional basketball with the Wyoming Valley Clutch before transitioning into coaching.

My coaching journey began at Wilkes University, where I spent four years as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program. Those experiences helped shape my passion for mentorship, leadership, and service—values that I now strive to instill in my students and athletes every day.

I am participating in this year’s Gentlemen’s Dash in honor of my biggest fan, my grandmother, Carol, who lost her fight in 2019. Throughout her courageous battle with cancer, she never stopped supporting me. No matter the distance, weather, or circumstances, she found a way to be at nearly every game I played. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering love continue to inspire me, and I am proud to run in her honor.

Supporting Paint the Planet Pink is important because cancer affects countless individuals and families in our communities. The organization provides critical resources, support, and hope to those facing some of life’s most difficult challenges. Events like the Gentlemen’s Dash not only raise funds but also increase awareness, encourage early detection, and remind those battling cancer that they are not alone. By supporting Paint the Planet Pink, we are investing in our neighbors, friends, family members, and future generations.

As someone who has spent much of my life on the basketball court, I’ve learned that championships are won through teamwork, commitment, and relentless effort. The fight against cancer requires those same qualities from all of us.
