The Alive to Strive Race is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of kidney disease and educate the public about kidney health. It provides a fun and supportive opportunity for those living with kidney disease and anyone else, no matter what their fitness level, to train and reach their fitness goals.
The Alive to Strive Race day is filled with activities including the 1K fun walk/run, the 5K walk/run, the 5K team challenge and the 10K walk/run.
Online registration is now close but registration is available in person during Race Kit pick up times and location

Sunday April 26th starting at 8am at Hog's Back Park for the 5K and 10K ,

La course Vivre ses défis est une excellente occasion d’accroître la sensibilisation à la maladie rénale et d’éduquer le public au sujet de la santé du rein. Elle offre la possibilité à ceux qui vivent avec une maladie rénale, quelque soit leur niveau de forme physique, de s’entraîner pour rejoindre leurs objectifs de forme physique de façon amusante et coopérative.
La journée de la course Vivre ses défis est remplie d’activités incluant la marche 1 km, la marche/course de 5 km, le défi d’équipe de 5 km et la course de 10 km.

Late Registration
Online registration will close April 22 at 11:59 p.m. Late entries to all races will be accepted at Race Kit Pickup (Friday and Saturday) as well as on race day Sunday, April 26 starting at 8 a.m.
* Participants must register a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the start time of their event. If a participant registers later, his/her time chip will not be activated and he/she will not have an official time.
Late registrations are available during race kit pick times on Friday April 25th, Sat April 26th and Sunday April 27th - all race fees and shirt sale during late registration must be paid in cash ONLY.

1K Walk/Fun Run: Start and finish on Terry Fox Track.
5K Walk/Run: Starts at Hogs Back Road (near the Terry Fox Athletic Facility), turns down Colonel By Drive for an out and back route returning to Hogs Back Road and feeding in to the Terry Fox Athletic Facility for a final 200 m around the track to the finish.
5K Team Challenge: This race will begin and follow the same path as the 5 km Run/Walk. Teams will consist of 4 to 10 members. All members run the whole 5 km. The top 4 times from each team will be used to determine the winning team!
10K Walk/Run: Starts at Hogs Back Road (near the Terry Fox Athletic Facility), turns down Colonel By Drive for an out and back route returning to Hogs Back Road and feeding in to the Terry Fox Athletic Facility for a final 200m around the track to the finish.

We will have an awards tent near the big tent in the Athlete's Village at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. Please present yourself at the tent 30 minutes after crossing the finish line to verify results.

5K Team Challenge
**Teams must have a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum 10 participants.
The 5K Team Challenge is not a relay, ALL team members must walk or run the whole 5 km. Each team’s 4 best times will be added to determine the winning teams.
Free Lunch!
A free, healthy lunch will be serve to all participants starting at 10:30AM
You will have the choice of a meat or vegetable option

Additional Information
- For the safety of all participants, no in-line skates or animals (with the exception of guide-dogs) will be allowed on any of the courses or at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. Participants with strollers are allowed but will be asked to start at the back of the group to prevent any injuries.
- Race Tech long sleeve shirts are available for an additional $20. Sizes available are Youth, XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL
- The 10K is a walk/run event but must be completed within 2 hours
- Timing chip for the 5K walk/run, 5K Team Challenge and 10K walk/run will done by Quidchrono and will be included in your race kit on the back of your bib. Any inquiries regarding timing should be directed to Quidchrono info@quidchrono.com
Cancellation Policy
Entry fees are non-refundable. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. Your entry can be transfered to a different participant or for a different event with a $3.00 transaction fee, until March 31st 2015.
Alive To Strive Kidney Fitness Project, in consultation with city officials and local law enforcement agencies, has the authority to cancel any event for emergency purposes. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, refunds cannot be provided since funds may have been already been spent in preparation for Run Day.

Alive to Strive Kidney Fitness Project is a volunteer base non-profit organization committed to education and public awareness about issues surrounding chronic kidney disease and its prevention. The organization operates a fitness and weight loss grant program benefiting those living with chronic kidney disease in the Ottawa area. All funds for the grant program come from the annual Alive to Strive Race
We work directly with individuals living with chronic kidney disease in the Ottawa area, helping them attain and maintain a healthy lifestyle thanks to our Active Living Grant Program.
