RULES FOR ALLOCATION TO WAVES FOR THE 27 AND 51 KM (medium and long distances)
The reason for using departure waves is to allow the skiers of similar speed to start at the same time in order to ensure smooth movement throughout the event.
The criterion for inclusion in a departure wave is the overall position in a qualification event submitted by the participant. Information provided from the qualification event must include the name of the event, the date, the distance, the technique (classical or free) and the overall position. The participant must provide the right information.
The qualification event chosen to justify the inclusion in a wave should be the most recent from among the last two years of competition in similar medium and long distance skiing events (2018, 2019 and early 2020), with priority being given to results from the Gatineau Loppet.
______________________________________________________________________________
Wave “ A ” First 20% in the event ranking
______________________________________________________________________________
Wave “ B ” 20.01 to 40% in the event ranking
______________________________________________________________________________
Wave “ C ” 40.01 to 60% in the event ranking
______________________________________________________________________________
Wave “ D ” 60.01 to 80% in the event ranking
______________________________________________________________________________
Wave “ E ” 80.01% and more in the event ranking
Information from the qualification event must be verifiable on the Internet.
The final decision regarding the inclusion in a wave is the responsibility of the Chief of competition.
The maximum number of skiers within the wave “A” will be 150 provided that the 27 and 51 km start together, and 100 in the event that the 27 and 51 km start separately.
The maximum number of skiers within the subsequent waves will be 200 provided that the 27 and 51 km start together, and 150 in the event that the 27 and 51 km start separately.
Gatineau Loppet reserves the right to reduce the number of skiers in waves “B” to “E” depending on the number of entries received.
A fee of $20 will be applied for any wave change done after the initial inclusion in a wave by the Gatineau Loppet.
