Our story…
Launched in 2012, Soccer Without Borders (SWB) Boston provides free, year-round, after-school programming to 300+ newcomer youth in the diverse community of East Boston. Our program focuses on the development of the whole person through a combination of three core activities: soccer play and instruction, educational & language support, and community engagement.
We are thrilled to have a Falmouth Road Race team supporting Soccer Without Borders Boston for the 6th year in a row! The Falmouth Road Race has become an annual tradition for SWB Boston bringing together volunteers, advisory board members, staff, and friends from all over the world! We emphasize fostering a team culture among our runners by hosting team runs, meetings, and special events throughout the months leading up to the race.
Description
Soccer Without Borders uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change. We provide underserved youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion and personal success. SWB is particularly focused on supporting newcomer refugee, immigrant, and asylee youth, and girls. More than 70% of SWB participants are refugees or asylees, having fled some of the most violent conflicts in the world. SWB has served youth from 68 countries and speaking more than 20 first languages. In the United States, SWB has programs in Boston, MA; Baltimore, MD; Greeley, CO; Oakland, CA; and Seattle, WA. In addition to SWB USA, Soccer Without Borders has year-round programs in Granada, Nicaragua and Kampala, Uganda.
