My Story…
I am running on behalf of the kids of Sistema Toronto. Sistema Toronto provides a free after-school music and social development program to 300 kids from underserved communities across the city. Throughout the pandemic, Sistema Toronto's program has continued virtually with 10 hours each week of strings, percussion, choir and Music & Movement for all kids, while ensuring it remains accessible by providing instruments, devices, internet access and nutritious food to all who need it, in addition to its regular programming.
I have been part of the Sistema Toronto team for the last 5 years, but this year in particular I have been amazed by the resiliency shown by each student. Sistema's three communities have been some of the hardest hit neighbourhoods by COVID across Toronto. Despite this, the students continue to show up each day after school, ready to work hard and learn, while also having fun and making music.
All support of Sistema Toronto will fund its music and social development program for children and youth. This year's funding will help ensure that students can continue to have a place to go after school, learn music with their friends, and thrive as musicians and leaders.

These families have been highly impacted by COVID this year, and your support will help ensure that these kids continue to have access to high quality group and individual music lessons each day after school, while making friends and learning important skills like teamwork, empathy and self-advoacy.
