Fundraising Goal Update #2 : Whelp.... you guys are my heroes. In less than 24 hours I reached my $724 stretch goal. I heard stretching was good for training so... stretching some more! $1,000 to represent the fact that 412 Food Rescue and Food Rescue Hero, want to reach 100 cities across the US and Canada by 2030.  We can do it!

Fundraising Goal Update: You met my initial goal of $412! So thankful for all my special supporters. Stretching the goal to  $724 in honor of 412 Food Rescue's goal to provide healthy food access to  the entire Southwestern, PA region.

Training Update: The Pittsburgh Marathon, and my very first marathon, is less than a month away and I have to admit...training has been... rough. My training runs are getting more and more demanding. It's physically and mentally taxing and I'm struggling to find the life balance I need in order to support my body properly while making sure I put in enough miles to accomplish my goal.

But I'm Running for a Reason.

Yes, it is hard. But I remind myself that I have the privilege and means to accomplish my crazy goal. I have the time it takes to train and I have the convenience of accessible healthy food—both of which are absolutely essential to not only achieve this goal, but to live. Period.

The people that I'm running for, our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, are faced with difficult challenges exacerbated by the very things that afford me the chance to participate at all: time and transportation.

412 Food Rescue is committed to eliminating these unnecessary challenges. They are adamant that EVERYONE has a right to conveniently access healthy, nutritious food. Wasting nearly 40% of perfectly good food while 1 in 7 people don't know where their next meal will come from is just unacceptable.

That's what keeps me going. I'm running in support of 412 Food Rescue and our efforts to #endfoodwaste and #endhunger.

It's challenging. But it's possible.

Please join me with a donation to this great cause! Thank you!

Original Post: First my first marathon (eek!) I'm running in support of 412 Food Rescue, an organization near and dear to my heart, founded on the simple belief that every small act of kindness matters. That there are enough caring hearts that believe it is absurd that we throw away 40% of our food while 1 in 7 people experience hunger. That by mobilizing these hearts, perfectly good food will feed people, not landfills. And that solutions to the seemingly impossible problems are possible when we all join in. As I run, every step will serve as a reminder that though it may just be one small step, it matters. It's a part of something bigger. Every person's, every action matters. And I run to honor each and every one of you choosing to care. Thank you for supporting me on this journey. And I hope that you incorporate little steps of kindness into your day because it matters. (Becoming a #FoodRescueHero is a pretty easy way to do just that! Hit me up if you'd like to learn more!)
