Rules for the Departure Waves for the 27 and 50Km Races |
The reason for using departure waves is to allow skiers of similar speed to start at the same time in order to ensure smooth movement throughout the event.
The criterion for inclusion in a departure wave is the overall position in a qualification event submitted by the participant. Information provided from the qualification event must include name of the event, date, distance, technique (classical or free) and place overall. The participant must provide the right information.
The qualification event chosen to justify the inclusion in a wave should be the most recent ofthe years 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 of competition in similar medium and long distance skiing events, with priority being given to results from the Gatineau Loppet. Please note that a virtual loppet is not eligible.
IMPORTANT: For on-site registrations, the Gatineau Loppet cannot guarantee that a legitimate request for inclusion in a wave will be honoured. We therefore recommend that participants register before the Loppet weekend.
