Our story…
Girls on the Run Greater Boston is a girl-empowerment organization that inspires participants to be joyful, healthy and confident using evidence-based lessons that combine relationship building, community strengthening, and goal setting with physical movement. Since 2010, we have served over 12,000 girls throughout currently serve Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Middlesex and Plymouth counties as well as parts of the Cape.
As a nonprofit, GOTR Greater Boston raises funds to ensure all girls are able to participate. In 2022, nearly 50% of participants received some form of financial aid.
Description
Girls on the Run is more than a running program. Through GOTR's program, trained coaches implement the research-based curriculum that builds lifelong healthy habits. Girls learn the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of physical activity, as well as tools for navigating the challenges of adolescence. Each season concludes with a 5K event where the girls run at their own pace, giving them a sense of achievement and a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
