2025 ESSEX CENTURION
Solo Cycling Challenge
Bike Canada's Southernmost Imperial Century Ride!
Take on a unique cycling challenge around the region of Windsor-Essex. The Essex Centurion is more than just a challenge — it’s a ride that takes you around the region, through its vibrant communities and onto the backroads and paths attached to sections of the Windsor Loop and Great Lakes Waterfront & Trans Canada Trails.
*****
NEW TO 2025 IS THE LOOP: ~50 km loop around Windsor that ties together its iconic cycling infrastructure, including the Riverfront, Ganatchio Trail, Little River Corridor, the Herb Gray Parkway and Malden Park Trails. Approximately 90% of the route follows dedicated cycling infrastructure, with the remainder mostly on low-traffic, shared-use roads.
COST:
FREE — as always!
WHEN:
Challenge yourself anytime between June 14 and September 14, 2025.
HOW TO RIDE?
Complete the classic EC Way 100 (or another approved route) — in one epic day or over multiple days.
WHO?
Anyone ready to test their limits. Whether you aim to finish the ride once or strive to become an Essex Centurion Champion, this challenge invites cyclists of all types and abilities. Since 2020, Essex Centurions have tallied over 146,000 kilometres doing the challenge.
What's It Take to Become an Essex Centurion Champion?
Everyone who completes the Essex Centurion is a champion in our eyes. But the rider who goes above and beyond—tackling the challenge again and again, racking up the most points—earns the title Champion of Champions. Only the most determined make it to this level, pushing themselves to log thousands of kilometres by completing the Centurion multiple times over the summer. It's about endurance, repetition, and raw solo grit.
