Our Story
In January of 2022 at the age of 4, Benjamin was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), a rare disease and and form cancer. After undergoing a year of treatment his scans showed that he was CANCER-FREE! His one year post-treatment scans in January 2024 showed that he continued to be in remission. We're beyond hopeful, in fact, we believe absolutely, that his January 2025 scan results will continue to show NED (No Evidence of Disease).
Benjamin is truly an inspiring superhero in spite of all he's been through in his short 7 years. He treats every hospital visit like a special adventure and is well known for being happy, positive, kind, affectionate, enthusiastic, inclusive and for the wonderful sense of humour that pairs perfectly with his big smile and contagious laugh.
After his diagnosis my aunt surprised him with a very special superhero cape she'd made. For 3 years and counting he's insisted on wearing it to every treatment, surgery, scan, and appointment.
They say not all superheroes wear capes but ours does, as does his team of supporters on race day. On May 11th look for a sea of blue capes flying down Yonge Street. These people represent some of Benjamin's biggest cheerleaders and they run alongside us because understand how much Campfire Circle has meant to our family throughout our journey as an oncology family.
Description
Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
When you donate to Campfire Circle you build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being.
With your support, we can offer our programs at no cost to families and grow our circle of care so that every eligible child can benefit from our innovative and impactful programs.
Thank you for helping to build a world where children thrive and families heal.
