Elite Athlete Program – City of Lakes Half Marathon 2026
We’re thrilled to invite competitive runners to apply for one of our complimentary elite athletes in 2026—offered strictly first come, first served. Once these slots are gone, they’re gone. If you’ve hit the times below in the past 24 months, we highly encourage you to apply early to secure your place at the front.
Qualifying Standards
To be considered, athletes must have achieved within the past 24 months:
Men: Sub-1:12 (72:00) half marathon
Women: Sub-1:22 (82:00) half marathon
Non-Binary: Sub - 1:22 (82:00) half marathon
Equivalent performances at certified shorter distances may be considered at the race director's discretion should entries remain at the time of request.
Elite Entry Details
These elite entries are awarded on a first come, first served basis until filled.
Elite entry includes complimentary registration (specifics provided upon acceptance).
Elite runners are eligible for both overall prize money and age group awards.

Prize Money & Awards
We’re proud to offer the following prize structure for top overall finishers (based on Gun Time, per USATF rules):
1st place: $300
2nd place: $200
3rd place: $100
Additionally, a special $100 bonus will be awarded for any new Minnesota single-age half marathon record (paid via check).
Age Group Awards
The top 2 finishers in each age group will also receive prizes. The Age Groups are: 19 & Under, 20 - 29, 30 - 34, 35 - 39, 40 - 44, 45 - 49, 50 - 54, 55 - 59, 60 - 64, 65 - 69, 70 - 74, 75 - 79, 80 - 84, 85 - 90.

We review applications on a rolling basis, and spots fill quickly.
