Captain Eric A. Jones
12 April 1980 – 26 October 2009
Heroes In Transition, Inc. was founded to honor the memory of Capt. Eric A. Jones, USMC. Eric grew up in Pound Ridge, NY, and summered on Cape Cod, where his mother resides. From the time he was a young child, Eric knew he wanted to fly; he also knew that he wanted to be a Marine. Upon graduating from Northeastern University, Eric attended Officers Candidate School in Quantico, VA. In 2007 he was awarded Naval Aviator Wings. Eric elected to fly helicopters so that he could support the troops on the ground. Eric flew UH-1N (Huey) helicopters and participated in two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom and one tour in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. It was during the final phase of his tour in Afghanistan that Eric, along with three other brave Marines, lost their lives while supporting a combat mission on October 26, 2009.It is the focus of Heroes In Transition to complete Eric’s mission. Eric loved being a Marine; he loved being a helicopter pilot, he loved helping the ground troops and he loved life.
Description
Heroes in Transition (HIT) provides assistance for veterans, service members and their families not readily available from government agencies or other providers. This assistance strengthens relationships, builds community, empowers individuals and provides a pathway to healing for those we serve. HIT improves quality of life, communication, and resiliency skills for all, through responsible and professional leadership and in partnership with others.
