Do I need to be good at navigation?
No. Basic awareness and teamwork is enough.
Can we ask people for directions?
No. You must work it out yourselves.
Can we use Google Maps?
No. Phones and Watches, these are sealed unless needed for safety. (No headphones or any smart devices)
Is this safe?
Yes. Teams are tracked and support is available. If family urgently need to get in touch with you, they should contact the Race Director, who will then get in touch with you from the tracking device.
What if we get lost?
You are still within Christchurch. Keep moving and reassess.
Can we walk?
Yes. You can run or walk.
What if we don’t finish?
You can withdraw at any time and contact support.
Where is the support if needed?
We will have roaming support vehicles and medics on the route (Tracking everyone).
Yes, minimum age to be 13 years.
Can I get a refund if I withdraw prior to the event start?
No, sorry there are no refunds, but you can transfer your entry to another competitor or to next year's event.
An administration fee of $25.00 applies for a transfer to another competitor or to next year's event. This must be completed by the Sunday before the event - seven days out. You will be issued with a code to enter the next year with your entry fee as the discount.
We do offer a CJM'S Withdrawal Cover, which can be purchased at the time of entry. If you cannot participate for any reason, you get a full refund of your entry fee if you purchase Withdraw Cover and you withdraw up to 96 hours before the event. No Merchandise is refunded under this cover.
Are there drink stations on the run?
No; you are to have 2litres of fluid with you and at least $20.00 which you can purchase additional fluid or nutrition if you run out. We do not know what your route is so we can not have a drink station on course.
How far is the Run?
We do not know how far you will run; the drop location is Approx. 21.1km as the crow flies. We estimate you'll run between 22.5km and 30km.
What if something happens and the event can’t go ahead, like a storm, earthquake or pandemic, do I get a refund?
Should the event have to be cancelled due to force majeure, disease or pandemic there will be no refund of entry fee as all expenses have generally been spent in marketing, set up and administration.
Although we do offer CJM'S Cancellation Insurance that can be purchased for this reason, this is individually offered and if purchased and the event is cancelled for any reason including Force Majure, Disease or Pandemic your entry fee is refunded in full. No merchandise is refunded.
If an emergency was to happen during the event, we would contact you by your telephone you are carrying in your sealed envelope.
Do finishers receive a medal?
Yes, every finisher will receive a Finishers Medal
