Run4Geelong 2026
Event Terms and Conditions
By registering for and participating in Run4Geelong 2026 (“the Event”), you acknowledge and agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
The Event is organised by Barwon Health Foundation (“the Organiser”) together with its contractors, volunteers, partners and event officials.
1. Acceptance of Risk and Release of Liability
By entering the Event, you acknowledge that participation in Run4Geelong involves inherent risks, including the risk of injury, illness, loss or damage.
To the extent permitted by law, you release and waive any rights, claims or causes of action you may have against Barwon Health Foundation, Run4Geelong, its contractors, sponsors, volunteers, officials, agents and representatives arising from your participation in the Event.
This includes any loss, injury or damage of any nature that may occur as a result of entering, preparing for or participating in the Event.
2. Participant Fitness and Preparation
By registering, you confirm that you are physically fit and suitably trained to participate in your chosen event distance.
You acknowledge responsibility for assessing your own fitness and ability to safely complete the Event.
If you have any concerns regarding your ability to participate, you should seek advice from an appropriate medical professional before taking part.
3. Event Rules and Instructions
By registering, you agree to comply with all Event rules, safety instructions and directions provided by Run4Geelong officials, volunteers, traffic management personnel and emergency services.
Event officials reserve the right to assist, remove or withdraw any participant from the course if they believe the participant is distressed, unwell, injured or unable to safely continue.
4. Medical Assistance
You consent to receiving medical assistance or treatment that may be considered necessary in the event of injury, accident or illness during the Event.
You acknowledge that medical decisions made by qualified event medical personnel, safety officials or emergency services are made in the interest of participant safety.
5. Course Closures and Road Reopenings
You acknowledge that roads along the Event course will begin reopening to traffic from 9:30am, with all roads fully reopened by 11:30am.
If you have not completed the course within the required timeframe, you agree to:
- Move onto footpaths where directed.
- Follow instructions provided by event officials, traffic management personnel and emergency services.
- Continue with consideration for public safety and road reopening requirements.
Participants finishing after 11:30am may not be able to cross beneath the official finish line arch and may not receive a finisher medal.
6. Event Cancellation and Refunds
All registration fees are non-refundable, unless the participant purchased Refund Protection during the registration process.
Refund Protection allows eligible participants to request a refund in accordance with the Refund Protection terms and conditions.
If a participant is unable to attend the Event due to a change in circumstances, they will not be entitled to a refund unless Refund Protection was purchased during registration.
If the Event is cancelled, postponed or modified due to circumstances outside the Organiser’s control, including but not limited to severe weather conditions, natural events, safety concerns or other “Acts of God”, registration fees will remain non-refundable unless the participant purchased Refund Protection.
The Organiser reserves the right to make changes to the Event where required to ensure participant safety and comply with operational requirements.
7. Registration Transfers and Changes
Registrations are valid only for the registered participant and cannot be transferred to another event.
If a participant is unable to attend and wishes to transfer their registration to another person, they must complete the official Registration Transfer process via the Run4Geelong website before registrations close.
Transfer fees may apply.
Unauthorised transfers are not permitted.
Participants may change their event distance prior to the Event, subject to availability and any applicable fees.
8. Participant Responsibility and Personal Belongings
Participants are responsible for their own safety, personal belongings and sporting equipment during the Event and associated activities.
Barwon Health Foundation, Run4Geelong, contractors, sponsors, volunteers and event representatives accept no responsibility for loss, theft, damage or injury relating to personal belongings, including clothing, footwear, jewellery or other personal items.
Participants are responsible for ensuring any bags or personal items left in designated areas are clearly labelled. Organisers are not responsible for lost or damaged items.
9. Photography, Video and Event Promotion
By registering for Run4Geelong, you consent to Barwon Health Foundation, Run4Geelong, contractors and event partners using your name, photographs, videos or other recordings captured during the Event for promotional, marketing, media, social media, website and future event communications.
You consent to Barwon Health Foundation collecting and using your personal information, including your name and email address, for Event administration, communications, fundraising updates and relevant marketing purposes.
By accepting these Terms and Conditions, you agree to receive email communications from Run4Geelong and Barwon Health Foundation.
10. Participant Age Requirements
Participants confirm that:
- They are 18 years of age or older on the Event date; or
- If under 18 years of age, they have obtained permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate.
Parents and guardians acknowledge the following age requirements:
- Participants must be 10 years or older to participate independently in the 10km, 5km or 3km events.
- Participants must be 16 years or older to participate independently in the Half Marathon.
Children under 16 years of age must be registered by a parent or guardian.
Participants under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult on course, except for the 1km Kids Dash.
11. Event Participation Requirements
Participants must comply with all Event safety requirements, including directions from event officials, volunteers, emergency services and traffic management personnel.
The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any participant who does not comply with Event rules or whose behaviour may impact the safety or enjoyment of others.
12. RunPawGeelong and Animals
RunPawGeelong will not form part of the Run4Geelong 2026 event offering.
Dogs and other animals are not permitted at the Event, except for accredited service animals.
This decision supports the safety and enjoyment of all participants, volunteers and spectators.
13. Agreement to Terms and Conditions
By completing registration, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Event Terms and Conditions.
You acknowledge your responsibility to participate safely, follow Event instructions and respect other participants, volunteers, officials and members of the community.
