Departure waves for the 27 and 50KM races
The reason for using departure waves is to allow skiers of similar speed to start at the same time in order to ensure smooth movement throughout the event.
The criterion for inclusion in a departure wave is the overall position in a qualification event submitted by the participant. Information provided from the qualification event must include name of the event, date, distance, technique (classical or free) and place overall. The participant must provide the right information.
The qualification event chosen to justify the inclusion in a wave should be the most recent from among the last two years of competition in similar medium, long distance skiing events (2018, 2019 and early 2020), with priority being given to results from the Gatineau Loppet.
