We are staff from the YMCA of Greater Toronto's Philanthropy team - literal FUNd-racers - and we are so pumped about running this year!

It's because we see every day in our work how YMCA camps benefit children and families across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). It's not just that children have a whole lot of fun at camp. It's also that camp can change the course of their lives.

It helps them develop a network of friends and trusted adults (their young adult counsellors/role models). 

It helps them learn key life skills like swimming and canoeing and develop a lifelong love of nature. 

And at all of our Y's 50-odd day camps, there's a strong emphasis on values. So, kids who attend develop in areas like integrity, optimism, resilience, inclusiveness, and teamwork. Camp helps them to grow into the good humans they are meant to be. 

Far too many GTA families today face the high cost of living on incomes that aren't enough to meet basic needs. They can't afford to send their kids to camp for these transformative experiences, benefits which all kids need and deserve. That's where YMCA donors come in - our heroes!
