Help Krista raise money

I’m so looking forward to my 4th year participating and 3rd time swimming the 1500m event. This year, I’m excited to join my Bowen Bay training buddies Anna and Mary on Team 3 Swimming Sistahs!

My youngest brother is living with a rare terminal cancer. I’m very familiar with the fear, anxiety and stress of time in treatment; of the many hours spent in transit, or in preparation, or simply waiting for a doctor to call. Because he lives so far away it’s hard to feel helpful, so I’m compelled to participate here, where I can, supporting others.  

I’ve lead teams, organized and participated in so many cancer research fundraising events over the years. SwimBowen is different. It feels different. There’s a real connection to community and to the actual people who directly benefit from the fundraising. Even before moving here in 2021, I knew I wanted to be involved with SwimBowen. That goal pushed me to overcome my fear of ocean swimming. It’s now something I absolutely love and enjoy. 

I know how impactful a Cancer Care Fund gift is for a person in treatment, so I’m thrilled to swim for my community again this July. Thank you for your support!
