Raise money for Mario Lemieux Foundation

Join the Mario Lemieux Foundation for the 2026 Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon to receive great prizes and help us raise funds for the Foundation's cancer research, patient care and Austin's Playrooms initiatives!

The Mario Lemieux Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin’s Playrooms, an initiative that creates playrooms for children and families in medical facilities. The Mario Lemieux Foundation was created in 1993 by hockey legend Mario Lemieux. In that year, Mario was enjoying the greatest season of his brilliant career and on pace to establish a new NHL scoring record. Then he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. After a successful battle with Hodgkin's, Mario is now over 30 years cancer free, and his experience led him to focus on ways to assist those not so fortunate. He devotes much of his time to the Foundation, raising funds to help reach the ultimate goal: a cure for cancer.

Thank you for your support!

Since our founding, the Mario Lemieux Foundation has been focused on finding a cure for cancer by funding research and patient care, and supporting families in challenging medical situations. Through ongoing projects at the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers, the Mario Lemieux Lymphoma Center, the Mario Lemieux Immunotherapy Center, and the recently established Mario Lemieux Center for Heart Rhythm Care, we support research that translates to clinical trails and innovative therapies that save lives.
